Ryanair doubles profits in the first quarter to 820 million and forecasts "strong" demand.

Ryanair closed its first fiscal quarter (April-June 2025) with a profit of €820 million , a figure that more than doubles (+128%) the result recorded in the same period of the previous year, when it stood at €360 million, as reported this Monday in a press release.
The Irish company has attributed this increase to a 4% rise in traffic , up to 58 million customers, with 21% higher rates.
The airline has estimated that "capacity on European short-haul flights will remain limited for the next five years, until 2030, as the two major original equipment manufacturers— Boeing and Airbus—remain significantly behind in aircraft deliveries."
First-quarter revenue increased by 20% to €4.34 billion , while the average passenger fare increased by 21% to €51, and ancillary revenue grew by 3%.
"First-quarter fares benefited significantly from the April Easter holiday, weak year-over-year comparisons, and slightly higher-than-expected closing prices," said Ryanair Group CEO Michael O'Leary .
Ryanair has announced that it has 181 B737-8200 'Gamechangers' (25 more than in June 2024) in its fleet of 618 aircraft, which has facilitated traffic growth of 3% in the 2026 financial year (reaching 206 million passengers).
"We remain confident that the remaining 29 'Gamechangers' in our backlog of 210 orders will be operational well before June 2026 , when we expect to recover this year's delayed traffic growth in 2027," O'Leary added.
However, the Irish airline has announced that it will operate more than 2,600 routes this summer (including 160 new ones), while also warning that it is seeing "strong" travel demand across its entire network this year.
"The limited capacity growth of our group airlines is being allocated to those regions and airports that are cutting aviation taxes and incentivizing traffic growth, and we expect this trend to continue," the group CEO said.
